Reuniting 30 years later, this duo returns to tell the story of two divorced and bumbling idiots who never get along. The first movie was charming, funny, and emotional. It’s a timeless classic that is easily relatable and showcases the wonders of 1960’s film making. This sequel, however, showcases the tragedies of 1990’s film making.

It begins in a baseball field with a light tune, giving you that 90’s neighborhood comedy feeling. From the first 30 seconds you know exactly what’s going to come next – a wisecracking protagonist gives off one-liners, they walk through a scene where he interacts with other characters in a casual and careless manner to show how comfortable his life is, and some unexpected event sets up the rest of the cheesy plot.

You follow Felix and Oscar’s trip across California to reach their children’s wedding, and the journey goes sour at every step. You’ll relive their quirky annoyances and it’s basically The Odd Couple 1 out on the road. However, it lacks the depth and sincerity of the first movie and you’ll find that it’s just another sequel thrown together for sequel’s sake. The final resolution is poorly done and there’s just no feeling of attachment to anything. Though it’s a passable movie, it failed to bring back the charm.
