I got this as a Christmas gift from my girlfriend. It’s awesome.

I have the black one for Mac, but there’s a Windows version too, with their own special keys. For the Mac version it comes in black, silver, or silver with blue, pink, or green headers. The Windows version only comes in black. Strangely, the Mac version uses an all lower case sans-serif font and the Windows version uses a regular serif font. Both connect using a tiny wireless USB receiver. Another model, the K760 is a smaller and more portable version built for on-the-go use with multiple devices like the iPad, connects with bluetooth, and has a set of buttons to quickly switch between devices.

First of all, its design is very sleek and thin. It has the chiclet keys that I like with all the specialized Mac buttons, a full numpad, media buttons, an on-off switch, a button to check the lighting quality, and the SOLAR PANELS. In the picture above, there’s a section above the numpad that houses the on-off switch and the check lighting button. Pressing this button will turn on one of the two lights – a green one signifying that there’s enough light to charge the batteries (next to a happy face) or a red one to show that it’s too dim (next to a sad face). The panels are pretty sensitive, and the light of my dorm room alone will give me a green light. If you flip the keyboard over to look for more information, the text is even flipped upside down so when you pick up the keyboard and look over it, the text is facing you. Everything about this keyboard is perfect.

Well only three things are not perfect. The glossy faceplate looks nice but gets dirty and scratched easily (I have a keyboard cover though). Then, there are no feelers for the media buttons so it’s hard to work them in the dark or under the desk. I solved this by taping staples to them. And finally, out of personal preference, I’d rather not have the rubber grips on the bottom because I like to slide the keyboard around a lot.

And that’s it. This keyboard is super stylish and functional. There’s an app you can download online to check the battery level and the precise amount of light that the keyboard is absorbing, but it’s pretty annoying and the battery is always at 100% anyway so I deleted it. I will use this keyboard for the rest of my life.
